Enjoy on-the-rocks
In the bottle: Sweet and fragrant, with hints of lavender, caramel and wet hay, there is also a nice splash of vanilla in there as well which reminds me of those vanilla tootsie rolls. Maybe I am a bit influenced from my breakfast in Taiwan this morning, but I also find a little brown sugar, like a steam bun (matun).
On the rocks: The sweetness really pops as it hits the tongue, spilling over into some of the brown sugar and vanilla from the nose. The wet hay also makes an appearance, and adds some depth to the sweetness, which is good because the sweetness stays with you as you drink this, which is not bad as it feels a bit like a comfort drink (hence the be lazy).
水割り Diluted with water
4:1, 3:2 ratio: I think I was too lazy to write down what I felt when diluted with water, what I remember was basically a smoother version of what was on the rocks, nothing new poped out with a little water.
Reflections on this shōchū

While this hits a lot of notes that the sweeter, richer potato shochu typically have, it does not really bring anything new to the party; I was hoping the lavender I found on the nose would come through on the palate, unfortunately not.

There is a great comfort when drinking this, maybe just due to the name.

Picked this up at my normal go to shop in Nagoya station, this place is on B2 of Takashimaya and often has some interesting bottles and while not spectacular, this one did not disappoint.
